I'd like to hear from those who have installed a Continental O-470 in a 108-2. Thanks, I'll stand by.

Eddie Stewart is installing one now, not sure if he is active here, I know he is on the International Stinson club Facebook page.

@charlesgruby Finally getting around to looking over the "NEW" site for the Stinson Club. Love it so far. Hopefully I will learn how to navigate the far corners of this thing. Anyway, to answer your question about a 470 on a -2, I can not speak from experience with this installation on a -2. My plane is a -3 that I am putting the 470 on but there should only be minor differences in the -2 and -3 in regards to the 470 install. First thing is the STC is no longer supported. That being said, the STC did allow installation on a -2. The only difference was the addition of a dorsal fin extension. Not sure about the requirements for this as I have seen several 470 small tail planes without the dorsal. My personal thoughts are the dorsal looks hideous. Installation of the engine by the instructions is fairly straight forward. There is a small amount of sheet metal work/ fabrication that will need to be done. The cowling, both top and bottom will need shortened 3 inches or so and the air intake scoop will need modified. Also some work on the nosebowl stretching a couple of spots and cutting a larger hole for prop clearance. You will also have to move/ add control cables for the prop and mixture controls. I think I have all the installation instructions in digital format if you would like to look them over. I am really excited to see my plane/ plans coming together. This is my bucket list plane. I am still a couple of months at least from flying it but I seem to be seeing a glimmer of the light at the end of the tunnel. Anything specific you would like to address, I will try to check this site on a regular basis.

I think that's a super Stinson STC with the added dorsal. I agree it's not super pretty.

@906co470 I know this is an old post but hope someone sees this. I just purchased a -3 that has the 0-470 on it and just noticed that the paperwork for the stc is missing. Checked the logs and the entries for the change are there just no paperwork for the stc. Would anyone that has this stc be willing to sell me a copy?

@kdwittnebelyahoo-com Flies like a homesick angel. Had a little OOPS with mine a few days ago. Dinged the prop and scuffed a wingtip. Until then, I was exploring the performance numbers and looks like 2000FPM climb is going to be easy and 135 MPH cruise will be a good cross country number. When we were done and weighed for weight and balance, she weighed in at 1550. I was able to get the CG in limits with no added weight on the tail by moving the battery behind the baggage compartment.

@906co470 I started on my ferry flight home with my new to me plane and I think the 135 is a good number too. I wasn’t able to get mine up to the due to turbulence but I was still doing 120 at 50%.

Would it be possible to buy copy’s of the stc from you.
